Juniata 10-11s take close one

BLOOMSBURG – Brody Powell stranded the game-tying run on third base in the top of the sixth inning to earn the save and the Juniata County 10-11 year old all-star team defeated Danville 8-7 at Mac McMahon Memorial Field in Bloomsburg.

Will Orwig started the game and earned the victory, going 4 2/3 innings and striking out six Danville batters before giving way to Powell.

The Juniata offense pounded out 13 hits including three from Tanner Barth and two apiece from Orwig, Jace White and Luke Davis.

Luke Sheaffer bashed a second-inning two-run homer and Alex Knouse made his only hit of the night-a third-inning three-run triple-count.

Juniata registered six of its seven runs in the second and third innings, mounting a 6-4 lead.

Mifflin County American Legion

The Mifflin County American Legion team’s game at DuBois on Tuesday night was rained out. Post 287 will take the field tonight at 7:30 at Rec Park when they host Clarence.
