Tomahawks fall 32-28, finish 7-3

The Mifflin County Tomahawks dropped a heartbreaker 32-28 on Saturday night as they faced the Tri-Town Braves (8-2) in front of a record crowd of over 300 fans.

The Tomahawks scored first on a 28 yard strike from Jace Maurer to Jordan Bell, staking them to an early 6-0 lead.

Later in the second quarter, Maurer did it with his feet on a 23-yard scamper to put the Tomahawks up 14-0. Still in the second, the Braves scored on a quarterback rollout making it 14-7. Just before half, it was Maurer to Bell again, connecting on a 23 yard TD, making it 20-7 going into the break. The second half started out strong for the Tomahawks following a Cy Treaster blocked punt for a safety. But it was too much Brave offense and Berwick High School great Scott Welsh led the Braves to three second half TDs. The Tomahawks scored late on a Maurer run cutting the lead to four just as time expired. The Tomahawks will travel to DuBois in the first round of the playoffs, taking on the 10-0 Mountain Lions.
