Juniata takes two against Tyrone
TYRONE – The Juniata tennis team left the Tyrone Golden Eagles looking anything but when the Indians routed the home team, 7-0 and 6-1, in doubleheader action to end the Indians’ regular season on Friday.
Brad Lipka, Luis Pacheco and Chantz Imes picked up singles wins in the first match – Lipka was the only one to give up a game – and the doubles team of Isaac Eck and L.J. Breon picked up an 8-5 victory over Ryan Cox Erick Hall for the last win the Indians needed. Tyrone had two singles forfeits and a doubles forfeit to round out the 7-0 final score.
In the second match, Taylor Stine and Chad Smith notched wins from the No. 1 and 3 singles spots, respectively, while Ricky Heck and Eniah Eck pulled away for an 8-2 victory over Hall and Cal Oldro. Again, Tyrone had three forfeits, while Hall was able to pull off a win in the No. 2 singles spot against Jim Hemond.
Juniata completes the regular season at 10-2.
Mifflinburg 4, Midd-West 1
BEAVER SPRINGS – Midd-West got one run across Friday on a wild pitch from Mifflinburg pitcher Dillon Weikel, but otherwise the Mustangs couldn’t get any offense going in their 4-1 Heartland Conference baseball loss to Mifflinburg.
Midd-West only had four hits in the contest – all of them singles.
The Mustangs (12-6, 7-6) play their last regular season game Monday at Danville.
