Third time’s a charm for Huskies

ALTOONA – Mifflin County romped over DuBois, 41-21, in Friday’s Districts 6-9 Class AAAA football championship game, clinching a spot in the state bracket for the first time in the school’s three-year history.

It’s the third time a county team has entered the PIAA tournament, which began in the 1980s. Indian Valley twice was a state playoff team.

Mifflin County’s likely opponent is McDowell (Erie), from District 10, which was leading District 8’s Allderdice late in their subregional contest. Because Districts 6 and 9 are listed first on the bracket, that game should take place in District 6, and will be played next Friday or Saturday.
