Lewistown falls in the 7th, 6-5

SPRING MILLS – With two runners on base for Spring Mills and the score tied at 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh, Lewistown faced a tough situation in Centre County League baseball action Wednesday. The team decided to walk the next batter to load the bases, but it turned out to be a move Lewistown would regret.

In the next at bat, Lewistown pitcher Sean Heckert lost control of a pitch and it hit the batter, bringing in the final run for the 6-5 final.

“It was a well played game by both sides, we just had a little bit of bad luck there at the end,” Heckert, who is also the Lewistown manager, said.

Outside of the bottom of the seventh, Lewistown went stride for stride with Spring Mills, putting up 10 hits to Spring Mills’ 9. Heckert threw three Ks and five walks in the loss.

John Michael Maclay lead Lewistown in batting, with a triple, a double and one RBI. Mike Higgins also collected a double and three RBIs.

Lewistown (8-7) hosts Spring Mills on Thursday beginning at 6 p.m.
