Kibe wins title, leading local pack at PJWs

HARRISBURG – Mifflin County youth wrestler Trey Kibe won a state title at the PJW Championships held at the Farm Show Complex Friday and Saturday.

Kibe, who wrestles in the 85-pound class in the 9- and 10-year-old age bracket, defeated Matthew Coller of Line Mountain 5-3 in the finals. His undefeated run through the weekend included wins over Hayden Lindy of Bellevernon, 7-2; a 6-4 quarterfinal win over Nicholas Delp of Kiski Area; and he pinned Erie’s Kishawn Higgins in 2:45.

Another local, Drayson Sullivan, made it to the finals before a loss to Montoursville’s Gavin Hoffman, 9-0, in the 135-pound class for ages 11-12.

Taking third in the 14U bracket was Quentin Milliken, who held on for a tiebreaker win over Biggie Gill of Cambria Heights. Two others placed in that age group: Greg Wert, who was fourth at 102 pounds, atn Trent Hidlay, who took eighth place at 107.

In the 10U bracket, there were two other placewinners as well – Brycen Hassinger (80 pounds) and Rylan Bailey (120), each of whom finished seventh. And in the 8U bracket, Anson Wagner was a seventh place finisher.

From Juniata, one wrestler placed in his bracket: Caleb Dowling was fifth at 80 pounds in the 12U age group.

Five other local youth took part in the event but did not place. From Mifflin County, Nic Allison, Christian Fisher and Clayton Wolfgang also wrestled. Nate Fultz and Tyler Wileman were Juniata County’s other entries.
