NEW YORK (AP) — Losing to the same opponent in the U.S. Open's third round for the third consecutive year, 13th-seeded John Isner was beaten 7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4) Saturday by Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber, leaving zero American men in the field.

Isner, the highest-ranked man from the United States, hit 42 aces and saved all five break points he faced, but it wasn't enough against the 22nd-seeded Kohlschreiber.

The big-serving, 6-foot-10 Isner converted only 1 of 12 break points and surprisingly was outplayed in all three tiebreakers.

Earlier Saturday, Sam Querrey — the only other U.S. man left of the 12 originally in the draw — lost to No. 1 Novak Djokovic.

Kohlschreiber will face Djokovic in the fourth round.
