BROCKPORT, Pa. (AP) — The grandfather of a 20-year-old bartender who was shot by a suicidal customer at a northwestern Pennsylvania tavern says the young mother is recovering, though still in critical condition.
Frank Bianco, of Brockway, tells the (DuBois) Courier-Express (http://bit.ly/1toj1LE ) that Cera (SAY'-rah) Bianco remained in critical but stable condition Thursday at UPMC Altoona hospital.
Troopers from the Ridgway barracks say Bianco was shot just before midnight Aug. 13 at the Brockport Army & Navy Club.
Police say 31-year-old Eric Carlson, of Brockway, became upset when Bianco tried to close the bar about 80 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
After arguing with the bartender, Carlson shot her before fatally shooting himself.
Bianco says his granddaughter has a 9-month-old son, Brandt, and is amazing her doctors with her progress saying, "She's a fighter."
