Violet L. Casner

Violet L. Casner, 86, of Lewistown, left this world on Aug. 12, 2014, to be with her Lord and Savior.

Born Sept. 29, 1927, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Flora (Smith) Kinzer.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Edward S. Casner; a son, Edward R. Casner; brothers, Robert, Howard, James, Roy and an infant; and sisters, Elsie, Hazel and Lula.

She is survived by: her grandchildren, Scott Casner and wife, Amy, Cory Casner and wife, Shannon, Jeannine Berube, Abby Yohn and Kacy Yohn; great-grandchildren, Jordan Casner, Olivia Casner, Ridge Casner, Reed Casner, Brewen Kuhns and Dre Cruz; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Yohn.

She spent a number of years of her early career as a care worker for The County Home. She was an independent Avon representative for most of her adult life. She was the bookkeeper for Ed's Garage. She was also a seamstress working for Scotty's Fashions until her retirement in Aug. 31, 1992. She also spent many post retirement years doing independent seamstress work for close friends and relatives.

She was a devoted Christian and a former member and Sunday school teacher at Parkview Church of the Brethren. She was a current member of the Maitland Church of the Brethren and a member of their Ladies Missionary Sunday school class.

She was a resident at Kish Apartments of Lewistown since Sept. 1, 1992.

A memorial service will held at 11 a.m. Aug. 15, 2014, at the Maitland Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Charles M. Eldredge and Pastor Jeannine Berube officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, at the church.

A private interment will be held at the discretion of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Maitland Church of the Brethren, 315 Crossover Drive, Lewistown, PA 17044 or to Medi Home Health & Hospice, 310 S. Main St., Yeagertown, PA 17099.

Arrangements are under the care of Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
