MIFFLINTOWN - Ethel M. (Dickson) Specht, 88, of McVeytown, died at 3:45 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown.
Born Oct. 3, 1925, in Lockport, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Doris (Miller) Dickson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell P. Specht, on April 20, 2013, and a son, Russell P. Specht Jr., on Feb. 21, 2010.
Ethel was also preceded in death by six brothers, Milton, George, Ernest, Don, William and Paul Dickson and eight sisters, Edna Snyder, Mable Dickson, Florence Bowersox, Ida Bickel, Evelyn Narehood, Nancy Dickson, Thelma Dickson and Lillian Cutler.
She is survived by: her daughter, Wanda K. Lamey and husband, John, of Loganton; five grandchildren, Holly Locurto, of Georgia, Juanita Devan, of York, Paula Woodling and husband, Don, of McClure, Amy Packer, of Lewistown, and Shawn Carpenter and companion, Dawn Crago, of Pittsburgh; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Earlier in life, she had worked at the American Viscose Corp., Arrow Shirt Factory and Scotty Fashions, altogether for 40 years.
She was a member of Strodes Mills Baptist Church.
Early in life, she enjoyed hunting and fishing. She also enjoyed sewing, doing crafts and working at the tree nursery for the Department of Forestry on Seven Mountains.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Darvin Donahey officiating.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ethel's name may be made to Brookline Manor, 2 Manor Blvd., Mifflintown, PA 17059.
