Russel J. Wray

McCLURE - Russel J. Wray, 58, of McClure, died at 1:18 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at his home.

Born Oct. 17, 1955, in Lewistown, he was the son of Janet (Wray) Wray, of McClure, and the late George S. Wray.

Russel is survived by: his wife, Bonalea (Loht) Wray, whom he married on March 16, 1974; his children, Tricia Estrada and husband, Jose, of O'Fallon, Mo., Tanja Fike and husband, Steven, of McClure, and Jonathan Wray and wife, Toni, of McClure; grandchildren, Jared and Sydney Estrada, Sage, Colson and Sadie Fike, Clayton and Saren Wray and "Nother" grandchildren, Tyler and Nathan Bonson; a sister, Denise L. Hess and husband, James, of McClure; and a brother, Douglas S. Wray and wife, Jody, of Winter Haven, Fla.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Randy L. "Shanty" Wray.

He was a 1973 graduate and he was the 1973 Most Valuable Player in Baseball of Penn Highlands High School and completed schooling to be a heavy equipment operator.

For the majority of his life, Russel was employed for Wray Brothers Lumber Company. He was employed at American Hickory Corporation/Collins Tool and a cabinet maker for Northway Industries Inc.

He was a member of the Lawver's United Methodist Church.

Russel enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially all of his grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Pastor Chris Heinlein officiating. Interment will be in Lawver's Church Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
