CROP walk scheduled for Juniata County
MIFFLINTOWN - The Juniata County Ministerium is still looking for a coordinator for the Juniata County CROP Walk. Interested individuals should call Graham Fowler at 463-3138.
The 2014 CROP Walk will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 5 at Walker Township Park. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. Everyone organization interested in walking is asked to pick up an information packet at 8 p.m. Aug. 6 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Licking Creek.

35th bluegrass concert today in Belleville
LEWISTOWN - The 35th Annual Big Valley Bluegrass Gospel Concert and Ice Cream Social is set for 6 p.m. today at Belleville Mennonite School. Three bluegrass acts will perform: Randy French's group, Dry Bones Revival and The Tussey Mountain Moonshiners. The ice cream social will feature desserts contributed by guests and ice cream with sundae toppings. The Unusual Suspects String Band will play old-time gospel and support local gospel singers to conclude the evening.

Church celebrating Independence Day
SIGLERVILLE - The White Memorial Congregationalist Church will hold an Independence Day program on Sunday. Regular worship is set for 9:30-10:15 a.m., and "Faith of Our Fathers," a special presentation, is set for 10:15-10:40 a.m. The video presentation will talk about how the Christian faith inspired America's founders to craft the Declaration of Independence. Re-enactors from the fifth battalion of the Cumberland County Militia will be in attendance. A picnic lunch is scheduled to be held after worship.

Mifflintown church hosting day camp
MIFFLINTOWN - A summer day camp, sponsored by Centre Lutheran Church in partnership with Camp Mount Luther, is set to be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday at the church, in Mifflintown. Children who have complete kindergarten through sixth grade are welcome. Day camp includes games, sports, Bible study, singing, crafts and worship. Chiz Rider performing at local campground
LEWISTOWN - Chiz Rider will be in concert at 10 a.m. July 13 in the Canal House at Waterside Campground, in Lewistown. First Baptist hosting community picnic
MIFFLINTOWN - First Baptist Church will host a Sunday School Picnic, beginning with a concert by the Skyline Boys at 4 p.m. July 27 at the Mifflintown Park. A picnic meal will be held after the concert. Hot dogs and rolls will be provided. Guests are encouraged to bring a hot and cold dish to share. Guests also should bring beverages, place settings and lawn chairs for their own family. A ball game will be held after the meal. Bring your own equipment.
If it rains, the picnic will be moved to the Family Ministry Center at First Baptist Church, on Route 35, one mile north of Mifflintown.
Local hymn sing to benefit health clinic
BELLEVILLE - A Big Valley Community Hymn Sing is set for 7-8:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at Big Valley Brethren in Christ Church, in Belleville. An offering will be received for the Central Pennsylvania Clinic for Special Children and Adults. Donations are tax deductible and will be matched by the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
