McVEYTOWN - Robert C. Jenkins Jr., 60, of P.O. Box 158, McVeytown, was found dead at his home in Big Greenbriar on June 28, 2014.
He was born on June 12, 1954, in Chambersburg, the son of Vera L. (Grove) Jenkins, of McVeytown, and the late Robert C. Jenkins Sr.
Along with his mother, he is survived by: siblings, David A. Jenkins, of Maddensville, Cynthia J. Jenkins, of Mount Union, Sandra L. House and husband, Mark, of Mount Union; and several nieces and nephews
A brother, Daniel P. Jenkins, preceded him in death.
Mr. Jenkins was a graduate of Richard Montgomery High School, Rockville, Md, in 1972. He attended Montgomery College, Rockville, Md. In 1979, he received certification from the National Hardwood Lumber Assn. for hardwood lumber inspecting.
As a certified wood grader, he worked primarily as a wood inspector and buyer and had worked at Corebox Assembler in Belleville, at the Walter McIlvain Co. in Alexandria, at Superior LBR Inc. in Tyrone, at Foresbec, Inc. in Alexandria, at Plumly Lumber Corp. in Winchester Va., and at Grant County Forest Products Inc. in Petersburg, West Virginia. Since 2009, he was employed by Giant in Huntingdon.
He loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed attending bluegrass concerts and festivals.
There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Monroe Valley Cemetery, Three Springs, with the Rev. Donald Pangburn officiating.
There will be no public viewing or visitation.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union.
