35th bluegrass concert set to be held July 5
LEWISTOWN - The 35th Annual Big Valley Bluegrass Gospel Concert and Ice Cream Social is set for 6 p.m. July 5 at Belleville Mennonite School. Three bluegrass acts will perform: Randy French's group, Dry Bones Revival and The Tussey Mountain Moonshiners. The ice cream social will feature desserts contributed by guests and ice cream with sundae toppings. The Unusual Suspects String Band will play old-time gospel and support local gospel singers to conclude the evening.
Church to celebrate Independence Day
SIGLERVILLE - The White Memorial Congregationalist Church will hold an Independence Day program on July 6. Regular worship is set for 9:30-10:15 a.m., and "Faith of Our Fathers," a special presentation, is set for 10:15-10:40 a.m.
The video presentation will talk about how the Christian faith inspired early Americans to craft the Declaration of Independence. Re-enactors from the fifth battalion of the Cumberland County Militia will be in attendance.
A picnic lunch is scheduled to be held after worship.
Church sponsoring summer day camp
MIFFLINTOWN - A summer day camp, sponsored by Centre Lutheran Church in partnership with Camp Mount Luther, is set to be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 7-11 at the church, in Mifflintown. Children who have complete kindergarten through sixth grade are welcome. Day camp includes games, sports, Bible study, singing, crafts and worship.
