McVEYTOWN - David A. Yocum, 63, of Oliver Road, McVeytown, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at his home.
Born Aug. 11, 1950, in Lewistown, he was a son of Chester A. Yocum, of Mapleton, and the late Bessie G. (Aultz) Yocum.
Surviving are: his three Daddy's girls, Jody L. Peters and husband, Daniel, of Lewistown, Lesa D. Yocum, of Yeagertown, and Michelle A. Yocum and fiance, Michael S. Lisa, of Lewistown; five siblings, Ronald Lee Yocum and wife, Gloria, of Lewistown, Kathleen M. Roth and husband, Larry, of Lititz, Susan L. Young and husband, Daniel, of Mapleton, Brian A. Yocum and wife, Andrea, of Newton Hamilton, and Christine A. Fink and husband, James, of Mapleton; six grandchildren, Erica Peters, Kelly Peters, Parker McKenzie, Olivia McKenzie, Evelyn Lisa and Damion Lisa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a 1969 graduate of Mount Union High School.
A sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, he was a Vietnam War veteran, where he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Employed as a truck driver for many years, he later retired from Overhead Door Corp. in Lewistown, and worked for Len's Dairy Products in McVeytown.
David was a member of the Strodes Mills Baptist Church, the McVeytown Lions Club and the Touring Friends Motorcycle Club.
He enjoyed volunteering, riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, with the Rev. Jonathan God officiating. Interment with military honors accorded by VFW Post No. 7011 will be in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown.
