MIFFLINTOWN Stanley C. Barner II, 77, of Mifflintown, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014, at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born Jan. 5, 1937, in Walker Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Stanley C. Barner Sr. and Lillian M. (Sheaffer) Barner. He is survived by his wife, Julia J. (Burd) Barner, whom he married on Sept. 14, 1962.
Also surviving are: a son, Stanley C. Barner III, of Mifflintown; a daughter, Jill R. Hildebrand and husband, Bryan, of Ismay, Mont.; one sister, Maxine Grandon, of Mechanicsburg; and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy and Warren Barner.
Stanley was a 1953 graduate of Juniata Joint High School of Mifflintown and attended Penn State University in State College for two years.
He worked for Berg Electronics, Camp Hill, and later worked as a salesman for the former Leister Ford and Mertz Ford, McAlisterville, as well as for the Washington National Insurance Company. In addition, he was the owner and operator of Juniata Auto Washette, Mifflintown, for 20 years. He also was a member of the Sand Spring Gun Club, Turbett Township.
A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Rex Funeral Home, 308 Market St., Port Royal, with Pastor Casey S. Hostler officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Interment will be held in Union Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
