To the woman who complained about the redneck and biker types in the area. Come to Centre County. There are many well dressed men here.
Glennville, Colo., population 2,600 just opened up a new 21,000 square foot skate park for anyone to use. What do we get in Mifflin County? A dog park. It just goes to show where our priorities are in Mifflin County.
After reading the school board minutes in the paper with the 8.1 percent tax increase, along with the Lewistown Borough Council minutes with their announcement to spend $490,000 of our money, I believe we have a lack of leadership at both levels. To do this to the residents of Mifflin County is ridiculous.
When did Mifflin County become the dump of central Pennsylvania? Is there an ordinance that says no garbage can be thrown out in your yard or your neighbor's yard? ... Does the county commissioners office have any standards or are they just collecting tax money and let us worry about it? Maybe we need to go to a higher level of government for assistance. It is a shame for our beautiful county to be used as a dump.
OK, working people of Mifflin County, we need to go to the next Mifflin County School Board meeting to let them know we cannot afford an 8.1-percent tax increase. Let's tell them they need to reduce the salaries at the top of the district. Enough is enough, no means no Mifflin County School District.
