Local hymn sings to benefit health clinic
BELLEVILLE - Big Valley Community Hymn Sings are scheduled to be held from 7-8:30 p.m. on the second Sunday of each month. The schedule is as follows:
Sunday - Barrville Mennonite Church, 48 Barrville Mountain Road, Reedsville;
June 8 - University Mennonite Church, 1606 Norma St., State College.
An offering will be received for the Central Pennsylvania Clinic for Special Children and Adults. Donations are tax deductible and will be matched by the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Klassen to present instrumental music
ALLENSVILLE - Harpist and speaker Eduard Klassen will present Christian instrumental music at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Allensville Mennonite Church, 1165 State Route 655, just north of Allensville. Klassen performs with the Paraguayan Folk Harp.
First Baptist to host Bible conference
MIFFLINTOWN - A Bible conference is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 17 and 9:15 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 7 p.m. May 18 at First Baptist Church, on Route 35, in Mifflintown. The featured speaker is Dr. David Clemens, who has been involved in a national and international Bible teaching ministry for more than 35 years. He has traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and 31 foreign countries.
A potluck meal will be held after the 10:15 a.m. service in the Family Ministry Center at the church.
Ten Thousand Villages to sell artisans' goods
LEWISTOWN - The Ten Thousand Villages Festival Sale is set for 6-9 p.m. May 16, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 17 and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. The sale helps skilled artisans in 38 countries receive a fair price for their products.
Featured items include hand-loomed textiles, pottery, jewelry, baskets, toys and a variety of nativities. Items are marketed through Ten Thousand Villages, a nonprofit fair trade organization based in Akron, Pa. This year the sale is being held in conjunction with Artstock. There also will be fair trade coffee and homemade treats for sale. Call 248-8327 for more information.
Local church to host informal worship
BURNHAM - A time of informal worship will be held at 6 p.m. May 18 at Freedom Avenue United Methodist Church. There also will be a brief time for a devotion and prayer.
White Memorial to host bluegrass concert
SIGLERVILLE - The White Memorial Congregationalist Church, in Siglerville, will host a gospel bluegrass concert by R.B. Powell at 7 p.m. May 18.
Big Valley BIC to host fundraising concert
BELLEVILLE - The Big Valley Brethren in Christ Church will host the Thiel family in a fundraising concert to support the Brethren in Christ World Missions "Family to Family" project. The project helps relieve starvation in Zimbabwe.
The concert is set for 7 p.m. May 18 at the church, 81 Wagner St., Belleville. Proceeds go directly to the ministry. Call 436-8010 for more information.
GCC to host night of worship on May 21
LEWISTOWN - A Night of Worship with Patmos Worship is set for 7 p.m. May 21 at Grace Covenant Church, 205 Washington Ave., Lewistown.
Patmos Worship is a team of young adults who are passionate about seeing lives changed for Christ. A free-will offering will be received for the team.

'Shining Stars' to sponsor hymn sing
McVEYTOWN - A hymn sing will be held at 7 p.m. June 1 at Spring Run Church of the Brethren, 6712 Ferguson Valley Road, McVeytown. The event is sponsored by the Shining Stars Sunday School Class. Tim Dunmire will serve as song leader, and Kathy Hartley will be the pianist. Refreshments will be served. A free-will offering will be received.
