LANCASTER - Nick Lorenz homered twice and Mason Hambright threw a no-hitter as East Juniata crushed Lancaster Country Day, 15-0, in a Tri-Valley League baseball game Friday that was shortened to three innings by the 15-run rule.
Lorenz was good for five runs with a three-run effort in the first and a two-run ball in the third, part of the eight runs scored by the Tigers in what became the final frame. Taren Sheaffer also hit a two-run shot in the final inning. Kyle Hart had a fourth homer and also drove in a pair.
While East Juniata accumulated a dozen hits - Bailey Coder had the only other extra-base hit, a double - Hambright and the defense prevented the Cougars from getting one in the game.
"It gave him a little bit of confidence and got his feet wet on what it's going to be like playing varsity baseball," East Juniata coach Tim Brubaker said. "Hopefully he will have learned that you can't just throw a fastball and let it go like that."
East Juniata (3-1, 3-1) travels to Line Mountain Monday.

CAMP HILL - Mifflin County was one run shy of a 15-run, game-ending margin against Cedar Cliff on Friday when the Commonwealth Division game was called because of rain.
With the Huskies up 14-0, Allessa Morrison led off the top of the fourth with a walk, but the umpire stopped the game before the next at bat.
Mifflin County coach Jack McCurdy said his team had some nice hits, but that the Colts also issued many walks.
The remainder of Friday's game will likely be completed when Cedar Cliff visits Mifflin County later in the season, McCurdy said. The Huskies' next game is Monday at Red Land.
All of Friday's scheduled scholastic sports events were rained out. A reschedule date was provided for just one event, Mifflin County's home baseball game against Cedar Cliff, which will be played Wednesday.
Three of today's games were affected by the weather as well. The start of Mifflin County's home baseball game against Central Dauphin was delayed to 4 p.m. Greenwood's home baseball game will be played at Upper Dauphin, at 3 p.m. And Juniata's game at Newport is postponed with no reschedule date.
