From staff reports
LEWISTOWN - Pennsylvania state Sen. Jake Corman, R-Bellefonte, met Friday with local employers and community members to learn how the PA CareerLink of Mifflin County's services support their workforce goals.
Local employers from Central Pennsylvania Dock and Door, Fike Bros Carpet One, Pa Insulating Glass, and Rohrer Corporation met with Corman to share how the PA CareerLink of Mifflin County staff helped their businesses to recruit and train their staff. Also, former PA CareerLink customers described how on-the-job training and skilled training opportunities led them to gain new skills and employment.
"The PA CareerLink helps more than just posting a job ad," Jessica Fike-Pheasant, of Fike Bros Carpet One, said. "The staff helps us to find qualified employees."
Corman also learned more about the educational services provided by Tuscarora Intermediate Unit 11 Community Education Services. While touring the building, he met with staff that provide youth and adult education programs locally as well as across the state.
Corman is a member of the Senate Education Committee, in addition to chairing the Appropriations Committee and serving as a member in the Banking & Insurance, Game & Fisheries, Rules & Executive Nominations, and State Government committees.
