LEWISTOWN - Michael J. Mihalic Sr., 70, went to be with the Lord at 3:27 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital Emergency Room.
Born Nov. 20, 1943, in Donora, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Kosko) Mihalic.
He is survived by: his wife, Denise (Mustybrook) Mihalic. They were together for 46 years and were married on Aug. 3, 1968; children, Michael J. Mihalic Jr., of St. Augustine, Fla, Kimberly Mihalic, of Lancaster, Kristy Smith and husband, James, of Lewistown; grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart, Michael J. Mihalic III and Katie Mihalic, of Winter Haven, Fla., and Haylee Smith, of Lewistown.
He is also survived by his siblings, Arline Sobek of Fairlawn, Ohio; Mary Ellen Berggrer and husband, Glen, of North Huntington; Dolly Gondas and husband, Bob, of McKeesport, and Patti Karki, of Wexford.
He was preceded in death by: his brother, Sonnie Mihalic; his sister, Marian Manecci and brother-in-law, John Manecci.
He was a 1961 graduate of Mon Valley High School.
Michael proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1966.
He was employed at Sanyo (Fisher Electronics) until their closing and then worked at Trinity Plastics until his retirement in 2008.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating.
Military Honors will be served by the VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.
His family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
