BURNHAM - Esther M. Hartley, 84, of Burnham, died at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Ohesson Manor.
Born November 14, 1929, in Burnham, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Clara (Sweitzer) McKinley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. "Dick" Hartley Sr., on Oct. 22, 2005, and her daughter, Lori A. Leister, in 2001.
Esther is survived by: her sons, Richard L. Hartley Jr., of Galeton, and Scott A. Hartley, of Granville; grandchildren, Daniel L. Hartley, of Burnham, Christopher M. Hartley, of Milesburg, Gregory A. Leister, of Burnham, Timothy J. Leister, of Harrisonburg, Va; great-grandchildren, Alex and Dylan Hartley of Milesburg.
She is also survived by her siblings, Russell L. McKinley and wife, Maude, of Burnham, Madaline "Mag" Kauffman, of Milroy, and Jacqueline "Jackie" Shreffler and husband, Paul, of Fla.
She was a 1947 graduate of Burnham High School. She had been employed as a cook at the Chief Logan High School cafeteria for 25 years.
She was a member of the Walnut Street United Methodist Church and she belonged to the South Burnham Community Group for over 30 years and was a volunteer at the Lewistown Hospital Snack Shop.
Esther enjoyed cooking, sewing and doing puzzles, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., with Pastor Mike Sigler officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
