REEDSVILLE - U.S. 322 West between Burnham and Reedsville was closed for four hours Monday afternoon due to an accident involving a tractor-trailer.
An officer from Mifflin County Regional Police Department told The Sentinel the tractor-trailer was traveling too fast for the road conditions and slid in the slush on the side of road around 1:40 p.m. Police said the vehicle then rolled over and took out 349 feet of guide rail before coming to a stop in both westbound lanes. The truck was hauling bananas, which slowed the clean-up process of the accident, police said.
While crews worked to clean-up the accident, traffic was diverted off U.S. 322 at the Burnham interchange and directed through Yeagertown and Reedsville via Manns Narrows, until westbound U.S. 322 re-opened at 5:45 p.m.
