UNIVERSITY PARK - Forwards Taylor Holstrom and Eric Scheid each scored, but the Penn State men's hockey team fell to second-ranked Boston College, 3-2, Saturday night.
With just over 13 minutes left in third, Holstrom netted Penn State's conference-leading fourth shorthanded goal of the season to help the Nittany Lions make it a one-goal game. In addition, Scheid fired his 10th marker of the year in the second period as he tied his career high with his 15th point.
The Nittany Lions (4-15-1) outshot Boston College (18-4-3) by a 35-30 margin. The Eagles finished 1-for-5 on the power play, while Penn State went 0-for-2 with the man advantage. Freshman netminder Eamon McAdam turned aside 27 shots, including 15 power-play attempts, while Boston College goaltender Thatcher Demko made 33 saves.
