HOUTZDALE - After a three-point first quarter that saw Mount Union trailing by eight, the Trojans turned it on. When the game ended, they had a 53-41 edge over Inter-County Conference rival Moshannon Valley in a girls basketball game Wednesday.
The struggle, Mount Union coach Jenny Cunningham said, was all on offense, and wasn't a sign of bad play.
"We just couldn't hit anything," she said. "It was like everything they shot went in."
The Damsels had their own tough-luck quarter coming out of the break, when they still held a lead. But Mount Union could not be stopped in the second half.
"We actually played really good defense tonight," Cunningham noted, which showed in the mere two trips the Damsels took to the line. "We didn't foul. We had a lot of steals."
Ashley Foor led the scoring with 15, including three threes. Tynita White added 13.
The Trojans also won the JV game, 28-24.
