LEWISTOWN - Sarah Catherine Thiel, 12, of 25 Nittany Quill Farm Lane, Belleville, died at 9:54 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

She was born on Jan. 5, 2001, in Oak Lawn, Ill., a daughter of Terry N. and Judy E. (Rhodes) Thiel, of 25 Nittany Quill Farm Lane Belleville, who survive.

Also surviving are her brothers and sisters: Peter N. Thiel and wife, Vickie, and their children Alex and Ashley, of Georgetown, Texas; Ty M. Thiel and children, Casey and Taylor, of Oswego, Ill; Nicholas Thiel and wife, Laura, and their children Owen and Ada, of Kalispell, Mont.; Mary Bergquist and husband, Jeff, of Maryville, Tenn.; Trevor Thiel, of Indiana, Pa.; and Anna, Travis, Juliana, Jori, Emily, Christian, William, Lily, Isaiah, Jacob, Jonah, Israel, Logan, Eleanor, Kellsey and Carlyn, all at home.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Josiah J. Thiel.

Sarah and her brothers and sisters were all home schooled. She was very musically inclined, being proficient at the cello, violin and piano.

She enjoyed reading, roller skating and spending time with her brothers and sisters, who were her best friends.

She was a member of the Big Valley Brethren in Christ Church and she loved her church family. Sarah was a very thoughtful, giving and organized young lady, who was very helpful with her brothers and sisters. She will be remembered for the small gifts and notes that she often shared with family and friends.

A funeral service will be held in her memory at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Locust Grove Mennonite Church, with Pastor Steven D. Munger officiating. Burial will take place at the Locust Grove Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at Locust Grove Church.

Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made payable to Brethren in Christ World Missions, Family to family feeding program, c/o The Thiel Family, 25 Nittany Quill Farm Lane, Belleville, PA 17004.

Sarah and her family participated in this program to feed hungry children in Zimbabwe.

Arrangements are under the care of Henderson Funeral Home Inc., 3813 W. Main St., Belleville.
