Mifflin County 66, Shikellamy 55
SUNBURY - Mifflin County ended a long road stretch on the right foot Monday when the Huskies relied on defense and rebounding to post a 66-55 win over non-conference opponent Shikellamy.
"I thought for the most part tonight we played with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. However, at times defensively, we looked like a team playing their third road game in four days," Mifflin County coach Aaron Gingrich said.
Mifflin County took a 17-13 lead into the second quarter, but really turned on the scoring before the half for a 39-25 lead.
"Although Hunter Wright (16 points) and Evan Seby (18 points) led us in scoring, we got some good contributions defensively and on the boards from Curtis Jerzerick, Jared Michaels and Peyton Reesman," Gingrich said.
Mifflin County posted eight 3-pointers, while Shikellamy hit 10; however, Gingrich said the Braves' distance game never put the win in jeopardy.
A double-double from Reesman (11 points, 13 rebounds) led to a 64-47 win for the Huskies in JV action.
Mifflin County (4-5) travels to Chambersburg Friday.
