MIFFLINTOWN - Despite heavy snow moving through the area Tuesday morning, the Juniata County Commissioners met to review and take action on a number of regular business items.
Chief clerk Jim Bahorik said the board:
Reviewed the November 2013 Summary of Collections Report - Fines and Costs, submitted by Jacqueline T. Leister, magisterial district judge.
Approved tax exonerations for Lack and Monroe townships.
Ratified hazardous materials check No. 1,180 in the amount of $181.66 to Wex Bank for fuel.
Approved the Purchase of Service Agreement between Juniata County Domestic Relations and Martha S. Bowersox for translation services at an hourly rate of $40, as submitted by Melissa Pallotto, domestic relations director. The length of the agreement extends from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2014.
Approved the Certification for Authorized use of 9-1-1 Funds for state fiscal year 2014-2015, submitted by Allen Weaver, emergency services director.
Approved the reappointment of Glenn Henry, of Port Royal, to a three-year Ag member term on the Juniata County Agricultural Land Preservation Board of Directors, effective Jan. 1.
Approved the reappointment of Tina Shirey, of Mifflintown, to a three-year at-large member term on the Juniata County Agricultural Land Preservation Board of Directors, effective Jan. 1.
Approved the Purchase of Service Agreement between Juniata County Children and Youth Services and Martha S. Bowersox for translation services at an hourly rate of $40, as submitted by Robyn Ventresca, fiscal assistant. The length of the agreement is Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2014.
Approved the Purchase of Service Agreement between Children and Youth Services, the Juniata County Probation Department and Cornell Abraxas Group Inc., as submitted by Ventresca. The agreement is effective from July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2014.
Approved the Certificate of Cost Allocation Plan for the year ended Dec. 31, 2012, prepared and submitted by Maximus.
Approved checks Nos. 39,012 to 39,060 in the amount of $79,453.87.
During a meeting of the retirement board, representatives voted to approve the 2013 Annual Required Contribution to the Juniata County Retirement Fund, in the amount of $287,615. The board also unanimously approved and authorized a fiscal year 2014 interest rate of 5 percent for the Employee's Retirement Fund account.
Bahorik said, after discussion, the board approved a fiscal agreement that will result in a 1.5 percent cost of living increase for retirement fund members in 2014. He said the increase will be a one-time payment.
