LANCASTER - Bailey Coder scored 29 points and East Juniata opened the 2013-14 season with a 74-26 victory over Lancaster Country Day in boys basketball competition Wednesday.
East Juniata also got 26 points, including three 3-pointers, from Nick Lorenz as the Tigers opened up a 38-10 halftime lead and never looked back.
The focus for the Tigers was defense, and they certainly hit that mark, holding the Cougars to 26 points on the day.
"Defensively, at practice and during this game, we were focusing on that," East Juniata coach Brock Anders said. "I think the guys stepped up on that end of the floor to complement Nick and Bailey offensively."
Lorenz sits at 997 points for his career and looks to break the 1,000 point barrier Friday at 7:30 p.m. when East Juniata takes on Upper Dauphin at home.
