Due to inclement weather forecast for the region Friday night, several opening-day sporting events were called off.
The Husky Club Tip-Off Challenge at Mifflin County lost all three of Friday's girls basketball games, although today's schedule is not affected. Juniata was to play Central Mountain and Mifflin County was to host Williamsport on the first day; those games will now be played as regular-season contests when the schools are able to schedule them. The Challenge does not use a bracketed format.
Also postponed was the season opener between the Midd-West and East Juniata girls.
Statewide, the storm threat was enough for the PIAA to postponed all four state football semifinals slated for Friday. Those games will be played today along with the other four semis.
New dates were not available for the local games Friday.
