LEWISTOWN - Margaret L. Moyle, 90, of Lewistown, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital. She was surrounded by her family, including her husband of more than 70 years, who sat by her side all night, lovingly holding her hand.
Margaret was born on Dec. 20, 1922, in Ickesburg. She was the youngest daughter of Frank and Rosie Swartz and was the last surviving member of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Amos, Robert, Benjamin, Chester, Galen and Fern Swartz and one sister, Sadie Campbell.
Margaret married the love of her life, James D. Moyle, on July 29, 1943. They celebrated their 70th anniversary this past July.
She is survived by: her husband, James; children; Kay (Moyle) Emerick and husband, Frank, Michael Moyle, and Rose Moyle, all of Lewistown, and Marty Moyle, of Bethlehem; three grandchildren, Lauren Ollman, Dalton Snare and Corey Gilbert; and one stepgrandson, Frank Emerick III.
Margaret was first and foremost a wonderful homemaker as her family meant everything to her. Earlier in her life, she worked at the former Goss's Market in Strodes Mills, the Arrow Shirt Factory and later at the Mifflin County School District Cafeteria in Strodes Mills. She was a devoted member of Lake Park United Methodist Church. She adored the congregation and Pastor Randy Traxler and his family.
She was an artist with a crochet needle and over the years she created many wonderful items. One year she secretly worked all year long to crochet bedspreads for each of her children, plus her granddaughter, and surprised the family at Christmas with these most cherished gifts from the heart. It was such a labor of love that she retired her crochet needle after that.
Margaret was dearly loved by all who knew her and her memory will remain in our hearts for all time.
All are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Lake Park United Methodist Church, where the family will also receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
