BURNHAM - Grace E. Mitchell, 74, of Burnham, went to be with the Lord at 8:19 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Locust Grove Retirement Village, in Mifflin.
Born March 25, 1939, in McVeytown, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Mildred (Estep) Wilson. Her husband, Marvin L. "Buck" Mitchell, of Lewistown, survives.
Also surviving are: four children, Mildred "Mid" Taylor, Billie Jo Kline, John Zeiders and David Zeiders Sr., all of Lewistown; two brothers, Marlin Wilson, of Lewistown, and Roy Wilson, of Howard; 15 grandchildren, David, Tammy, Amanda, Joseph, Erin, Christine, Donald, Tiffany, Lindsay, Violet, Megan, Carlee, Garth, Zach and Clay; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: a brother, John Wilson; a sister, Carol Ann (Wilson) Saunders; and a great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Lynn Koch.
She was a homemaker and the Burnham correspondent for the County Observer. Earlier in life, she owned a pawn shop in Duncannon and Bud's Diner in Lewistown. She was the first woman to work for Fred's Gulf station, Lewistown. She was an LPN for most of her career and was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. After retirement, Grace continued to work as an in-home nurse.
Grace's dogs brought great joy to her life. Grace loved spending summers with Buck at the Locust Campground for many years. She was an avid Bingo player.
In celebration of her life, a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. today, at Harshbarger Funeral home. The family will receive friends at 6 p.m.
