Students from Mountain View Elementary School prepare to make a trek across the new Juniata River Pedestrian Bridge Tuesday. The new bridge connects the borough of Mifflin and Mifflintown and provides access across the river for nonmotorized traffic only. The ceremony Tuesday included a ribbon cutting, a presentation of the old traffic bridge plaque to the Juniata County Historical Society and a short ‘roll and stroll’ on the bridge for those in attendance. The entire project started with a tree planting ceremony in Mifflin Park in July 2011. The ribbon was cut for the new traffic bridge on Dec. 5, 2012, and Tuesday saw the symbolic close to the entire project.
