Jay A. ‘Popeye’ Macknair

CARMICHAELS - Jay A. "Popeye" Macknair, 73, of Carmichaels, died at 5:23 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 , 2013.

Born Jan 26, 1940, in Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Walter S. and Roxie (Krepps) Macknair.

Jay is survived by: his children, Tim and Marcia Macknair and Jamie Macknair; grandchildren, Katrina Shea Goodson, Brandon Rasce Macknair and Ashley Maurin; great-grandson, Bryton Goodson; brothers and sisters, Carl and Bernice Macknair, Blaine Macknair, Robin Macknair, Gloria and Archie Bowersox, Hazel and Richard Epperson, Gay and Paul Shilling, Paul G. Macknair, Darlene and Malcolm Hinkel, Reed and Melanie Macknair and Doreen and Ken Long; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, George Macknair.

Jay retired as a master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force with 22 years of service. He also served two combat tours in Vietnam while serving in the U.S. Army.

A potluck social will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at the St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran, Alfarata. Bring along any pictures and stories to share as we celebrate his life.
