MIFFLINTOWN - Republican Amy L. Wagner won the race for the Region 4 position on the Juniata County School District Board of Directors, defeating Democratic opponent Helen M. Casner by a comfortable margin Tuesday.

Wagner secured 312 votes, while Casner secured 192 votes, according to unofficial election results.

Wagner will serve on the board for the next four years. She says her time as a high school teacher on the Newport Keystone Exam Committee provided valuable experience in data interpretation, a skill that will serve her well when considering the complex issues that come before the school board.

Also running uncontested for the Juniata County School District Board of Directors:

Region 1 - Moore Township: Larry "Bill" Rothrock secured 294 votes

Region 8 - Port Royal Borough, Spruce Hill and Turbett townships: Joseph R. Shearer secured 497 votes

Region 9 - Lack and Tuscarora townships: John G. Noss secured 311 votes

Perry County Region 3 - Greenwood School District: Katy Seiber secured 118 votes
