"The intent is to develop Mann Edge II, it might be called something else," Mifflin County Industrial Development Corporation President Rob Postal said.
Postal said the square footage at the undeveloped site is less than that of Mann Edge I, so the new apartment complex may be taller than the current one.
"We're going to have to adapt to the site (and some) interesting design issues to get around," Postal said. "Doing due diligence on subsurface, then after that's done probably start putting the financing together ... the intent is to have it ready to go in 2015."
The design will compliment the current apartment complex, which has 31 units.
Postal said there has been strong demand for affordable housing such as the Mann Edge Terrace.
Financing and support for the first Mann Edge project came from a variety of sources including the state, county, borough and other organizations such as the SEDA-Council of Governments. The project cost $5.5 million.
In Feburary, people gathered for tours at the new apartment complex for the elderly at the site where Mann Edge Tool Co. once stood.
Ground was broken on the project in November 2011 and the first residents started to move in Jan. 1.
Many of the residents graciously opened up their homes for the tour, allowing visitors to get a close up look of the spacious one- and two-bedroom apartments on three levels.
In addition to an on-site laundry room, the complex has several common areas, including a fireplace room on the third floor and a three-seasons sun room.
The apartment complex sits on a 1.5-acre site, with another 1.5 acres of adjacent property that is currently undeveloped.
