BEAVER - Gilbert Jay Baker Jr., 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley, Beaver.
Born Dec. 4, 1935, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Gilbert Sr. and Helen Schaeffer Baker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Nicodemus.
He is survived by: his wife of 36 years, Norma; two daughters, Amy and her husband, Peter Gerovac, of Center Township, and Michelle and her husband, Mark Hendricks, of Beaver; three grandchildren, Matthew and Lukas Gerovac, of Center Township, and Emma Hendricks, of Beaver; a brother, Harry Baker and his wife, Karen, of Rochester Township; two brothers-in-law, Steven St. Clair, of Ellwood City, and Eugene St. Clair, of Center Township; a sister-in-law, Edith and her husband, John Humberston, of Conway; nephew, Jeffrey Nicodemus, of York; and several additional nephews and nieces.
He was a member of Rehoboth Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a retired structural draftsman for the American Bridge Division of U.S. Steel Corp. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Friends were received Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at the John Syka Funeral Home Inc., Ambridge, and burial services were held Monday, Oct. 14, at Rehoboth Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2800 Conway Wallrose Road, Baden. Burial followed in Rehoboth Cemetery.
