Ned Kauffman, left, and Don Baker, both of the Burnham Lions Club, show the boxes of 7,800 eyeglasses, 166 new frames, 200 sunglasses and 18 hearing aids that they will take to be refurbished and then distributed to those in foreign countries who are less fortunate. The club has now collected 63,355 eyeglasses through the club’s eyeglass recycling program since it began in 1997. Eyeglasses may be dropped off at a collection box at the Burnham Post Office. Hearing aids also are accepted. A number of Mifflin County clubs, Wise Eyes and Watson’s Optical also donated used eyeglasses for the cause.
