MILLSBORO, Del. - Donald F. Yoder, of Millsboro, Del., died Aug. 31, 2013, at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Baltimore, after surgery.
He was born in Mattawana, the son of Luther J. and Ruth M. Yoder.
He was a graduate of Rothrock High School, McVeytown, and Lock Haven University, Lock Haven.
He was a teacher in the Indian River School District for 35 years.
He was a member of the Indian River executive board and a charter member there for 25 years. He was a member of the Delaware State Education Association executive board from 1976 to 1983. He was on the Millsboro Town Board from 1973 to 1986. He was employed by D.A.R.T. in Rehoboth Beach as a bus driver and then supervisor for 16 years from 1998 to the present.
He is survived by: his wife of 48 years, the former Elma Dunmire; a sister, Hazel Riley, of Cleveland; two brothers, James Yoder and Dennis Yoder, both of Lewistown; one niece; and four nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by two brothers, Terry L. Yoder and Thomas C. Yoder, and one nephew, James K. Yoder.
He was an amateur astronomer and a licensed private pilot. He was a member of the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, in Lewistown.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at Grace United Methodist Church, on the corner of Morris and Church streets, Millsboro, Del.
