PORT ROYAL - T. Stanley Whistler, 89, of Turbett Township, died at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at his home.
Born Oct. 4, 1923, in Thompsontown, he was a son of the late William Charles and Anna Mary (Walton) Whistler.
His wife, Mabel I. (Dalton) Whistler, preceded him in death in 1978.
Also preceding him in death were: one son, William C.S. Whistler, on Feb. 18, 1975; two sisters, Ruth Dunn and Verna Fenterbush; and one brother, George R. Whistler.
Surviving are: one sister, Bessie J. Beverlin, of Locust Grove Retirement Village; one brother, Carl R. Whistler and wife, Maxine, of Newville; two grandsons, William "Sam" Whistler, of Milton, and Stanley Robert Whistler, of Allentown; one granddaughter, Alicia M. Whistler, of Ephrata; and two great-grandsons.
Stanley was a lumberman and farmer for most of his life. He enjoyed playing his guitar.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with Pastor Alan R. Reiman officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
