Esther A. Davis

THOMPSONTOWN - Esther A. Davis, 79, of Thompsontown, died at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at the Harrisburg Hospital.

Born on Feb. 3, 1934, in Delaware Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late John P. and Jennie S. (Naylor) Lauver. On Aug. 1, 1953, she married Robert L. Davis, with whom she shared nearly 44 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1997.

Surviving are: two children, Lisa A. Beasom and her husband, Jerry, of Mifflintown, and Matthew R. Davis and his wife, Kristy, of Harrisburg; two sisters, Anna Mae Bashore and her husband, John, and Martha Delancey, all of Mifflintown; three grandsons, Joshua Kerstetter and his wife, Alesha, Ethan Beasom and Croix Beasom; one granddaughter, Garin Beasom; and she leaves behind one great-grandson, Drake Kerstetter.

Three brothers, Lester Lauver, Harold Lauver and Paul Lauver, and two sisters, Dorothy Dietz and Edith Lyons, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Davis was a 1953 graduate of East Juniata High School and a member of the Thompsontown United Methodist Church.

Esther was a homemaker, who also worked at the East Salem Shirt Factory. She loved being a Chicago Cubs baseball fan and enjoyed sewing and bowling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great- grandson.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, from the Thompsontown United Methodist Church, Thompsontown with the Revs. Gene McCallips and Barbara Yorks officiating. Interment will be in Locust Run Cemetery, Thompsontown.

Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

The Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
