NEW CUMBERLAND - Charles R. "Chuck" Stailey Sr., 64, of New Cumberland, and a native of Lewistown, died Friday at Lebanon VA Medical Center.
A 1967 graduate of Lewistown High School, he was an Army, Air Force National Guard and Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He was retired from the United States Postal Service and previously worked at the former New Cumberland Army Depot.
He was a life member of VFW Post 7415, New Cumberland, a member of American Legion Post 143, New Cumberland, and VFW Post 7530, Lower Allen Township. He enjoyed going on many vacations which he and his wife took over the past 27 years.
He was born July 14, 1949, in Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Lucille (Rupert) Cowher, and newborn son, David Allen Stailey.
He is survived by: his wife, Sandra Lee (Fettro) Stailey; a son, Charles R. (Tammy) Stailey Jr., of Roaring Spring; a daughter, Michelle Stailey, of Huntingdon; six brothers, Thomas, Ernest, John, Joseph, Scott and Richard Cowher; five sisters, Patricia Scott, Sandra Laxton, Margaret Siminetti and Tena and Cindy Cowher, all of the Syracuse, N.Y., region; seven stepbrothers and stepsisters, Cathy, Keitha, Cindy, Sunny, Larry, Billy and Freddy Stailey; and five grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Burial with military honors will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
