MIFFLINTOWN - Anyone traveling through Mifflintown recently may have noticed the brightly-colored planters decorating the streets. They are part of the 2013 Mifflintown Planter Palooza, which will culminate on Sept. 8 at the Juniata County Fair.
The 20 hand-painted flower planters will be moved from the sidewalks of Mifflintown to the fairgrounds at the end of August, where they will be filled with chrysanthemums and other fresh flowers to adorn the free stage and other buildings.

Misty Hoover’s planter ‘Tiny Miracles’ sits on display outside Crossroads Pregnancy Center in Mifflintown. The planter is one of 20 created for this year’s Planter Palooza, the proceeds from which will be donated to the center.
In the Floral Hall's art wing, a silent auction will be set up to bid on the planters. Photos of each planter will be on display with the corresponding number. Bidding will begin Aug. 31 and continue until 6 p.m., Sept. 7. Winners will need to pick up their planters at the fair on Sept. 8. All proceeds benefit Crossroads Pregnancy Center of Mifflintown.
