GLADSTONE, N.J. - David J. Hawk, 76, formerly of Sugarloaf, passed away early Sunday morning at the Pavilion at St. Luke's Village, where he had been a resident for the past nine years.
Born on Nov. 22, 1936, in Lowliest, he was a son of the late Raymond and Ethers (McFarland) Hawk. Prior to residing at St. Luke Village, he had been a resident of Sugarloaf since the late 1970s.
Surviving are: three children, Stephen J. Hawk and his wife, Nita, of Jacksonville, Fla., Sherril S. Sokol and her husband, Wesley, of Sarasota, Fla., and David K. Hawk and his wife, Deborah, of Hawley; four grandchildren, Rosemarie and David Hawk and Ross and Ryan Rosencrance; a brother, Stephen, and his wife, Mary, of Whitehall; two sisters, Linda Spang and her husband, Daniel, of Bethlehem, and Karen Hetrick, of Palmyra; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, the former Rosemarie A. Kochmar, who passed away March 19, 2010.
David was a retired engineer and utility contractor. He was a 1955 graduate of Lowliest High School and was also a graduate of Wyoming Polytechnic Institute. He was an avid golfer and member of Valley Country Club. He and his late wife, Rosemarie, also enjoyed traveling.
His funeral and memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday Aug. 2, 2013, at Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at the funeral home.
