EAST WATERFORD - A building at 5366 state Route 75 south was considered a total loss after a fire started around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
East Waterford Fire Company's first arriving unit on scene started an initial search inside the building for potential victims, First Assistant Chief Stephen Baumgardner said. He added the search of the building for victims was started because a car was in the driveway and it was still early in the morning.
Upon arrival, flames were showing from multiple sides of the building and the second floor was fully engulfed, Baumgardner said. Once firefighters knew the building had no occupants at the time, they began an interior suppression of the fire.

Fire destroyed this home Tuesday morning along state Route 75, several miles south of East Waterford.
No one was injured in the fire and the building had nobody inside, officials reported. Baumgardner said the building was owned by Bill Ganoe.
Baumgardner said the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the fire marshal. He said companies from Juniata, Huntingdon, Mifflin, Perry and Franklin counties assisted East Waterford Fire Co. at the scene.
