LEWISTOWN - The top three teams in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League continued to win, while Milroy moved into fourth place with a doubleheader sweep of Reedsville.
The league leader, Lewistown, beat Beaver Springs, 13-4, while second place Yeagertown downed McVeytown, 12-6. Strodes Mills, in third place, beat Belltown, 14-2.
Milroy moved into fourth place with a sweep of Reedsville, 9-3 and 16-4.
Lewistown is now 20-1, while Yeagertown is 16-5. The West has a four game lead with six games remaing.
Lewistown 13, Beaver Springs 4
LEWISTOWN - Lewistown scored six runs in sixth inning to pull away from Beaver Springs Wednesday night, 13-4.
The West led 7-4 going into the sixth when it scored six times thanks to four hits, two wild pitches, a walk and an error.
Manny Eby had the big hit, a two run single, while Peyton Reesman and Damon Jasper unloaded back to back extra base smashes. Reesman doubled and Jasper drove him home with a triple.
Lewistown had three players with multiple hits, Reesman, Jasper and C.J. Reigle.
Jasper picked up the win for Lewistown with three innings of relief work. Jasper gave up three runs on three hits. The big hit for Beaver Springs came from Alex Hackenberg in the third, who tripled knocking in Andrew Bishop. Hackenberg then stole home. Jordan Wise walked, stole second went to third on a balk and scored on a wild pitch.
The Springs only had four hits with Andrew Sharp, Tyler Martin and Andrew Bishop each getting one. Martin drove in a run for a 1-0 Beaver Springs lead in the first inning. Bishop doubled in the fourth.
Reesman finished the last three innings for the West. He didn't allow a run, struck out six, gave up no hits and walked three.
For Lewistown manager, Bernie Howard, it gave him his 11th 20-win season, tops of all Mifflin County mangers. Belleville's Bill Corbin and Yeagertown's Fred Zook each have 10.
It also gave the West its 11th season of at least 20 wins tying it with Belleville for second place. Reedsville is the leader with 13.
Milroy 9, Reedsville 3
MILROY - Milroy's Jared Soles tossed a three hitter and struck out six as he won the first game of a doubleheader for his team, 9-3, Wednesday night.
Soles only walked three. Will Fox and Aaron Kanagy each had hits.
Milroy broke the game open with six runs in the fifth inning as it was tied, 1-1, going into the bottom of the fifth.
Milroy finished with seven hits with Soles, Lane Hunter and Jake Smith each getting two. Soles and Smith each had doubles. Milroy's other hit was single by Collin Stuck.
Milroy 16, Reedsville 4
MILROY - Milroy's Graham Rhoades was in control on the mound and his teammates gave him plenty of runs and hits in the second game of the doubleheader Wednesday night.
Rhoades struck out 10, walked four and gave up five hits in a 16-4 Milroy win.
Trevor Bulick paced the Milroy attack with three hits including two doubles. Gage Boreman also had two hits with one going for two bases. A rookie, Collin Stuck also had two hits.
Will Fox was Reedsville's only multiple hitter with two. He led off the Reedsville first with a triple.
Belleville 11, Burnham 1
BELLEVILLE - Belleville used a trio of pitchers to hold Burnham to three hits on Wednesday night in an 11-1 win.
Kyle Peachey, Trent Yoder and Eddie Hamman combined for the three hitter. Peachey didn't give up a hit in his two innings, while Trent Yoder went three innings and gave up one, while Hamman gave up two hits and one run in his inning of work.
Burnham scored its lone run in the sixth as Jack Packer, who had two hits, singled and Javian Kauffman knocked him home for Burnham's lone run.
Belleville bashed out 12 hits with Dylan Billett getting two including a triple.
Philip Yoder also was a multiple hitter with two with a double. Belleville's other extra-base came from Jacob Yoder with a double.
Strodes Mills 14, Belltown 2
BELLTOWN - Strodes Mills won its third game in a row beating Belltown on Wednesday night, 14-2.
Dylan Pandel pitched a complete game for Strodes Mills as he struck out three, walked two and gave up five hits.
Pandel was backed by an 11-hit attack. Andrew Larson was Strodes Mills' top hitter with three. Tyler Rhoades and Drew Williams each had two.
Williams had a big day with both of his hits going extra bases. The rookie had a double early in the game and capped off his night with a two-run homer in the fifth. Strodes Mills scored nine times in the fifth.
Ross Underhill was Belltown's only multiple hitter with two. Tre Fleck, Alec Smith and Nic Copenhaver each had singles.
Yeagertown 12, McVeytown 6
McVEYTOWN - Second place, Yeagertown scored seven times in the fourth inning to pull out a 12-6 victory over McVeytown on Wednesday night.
Yeagertown scored seven times in the top of the fourth inning to go up 10-0. And Yeagertown needed all those runs as McVeytown came right back with six in the bottom of the inning.
Ty Bodtorf was the winning pitcher as he went three innings. He struck out seven, walked three and gave up no hits.
Nate Earnest, Ty Hunter and Jordan Marsall combined to pitch the final two innings. McVeytown only one hit, a single from Justin Rodkey.
Devin Ammerman led Yeagertown with three hits including a double.
The game was called in the top of the sixth inning and because the game was official, it was reverted back to the end of the fifth inning.
