MIFFLINTOWN - Dorothy Jean Walters, 79, of Mifflintown, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born Dec. 30, 1933, in Mount Vernon, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Ina (Boyd) Pierce.
She is survived by: her husband of 60 years, Russell H. Walters Sr., whom she married Aug. 6, 1952; five children, Joyce Page and husband, Robert, of Port Royal, Russell Walters Jr. and wife, Cindy, of McAlisterville, Clayton Walters and wife, Angie, of Mifflintown, Debra Strawser and husband, Larry, of McVeytown, and Dennise Peresolak, of Hummelstown; five brothers and sisters, Georgia Armes of Wartburg, Tenn., Elbert Pierce and Robert Pierce, both of Hebron, Ind., and Bertha Ross and Dennis Pierce, both of Mount Vernon, Ind; nine grandchildren; and 16 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Emory and Freida Pierce.
She was retired from Lyon's Fashions, McAlisterville.
She enjoyed cooking, canning, baking, gardening, sewing and sitting on her back porch watching the river and the birds. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Gay Irwin officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek Valley.
There will be a viewing held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
