Edward ‘Bobo’ Shirey

STATE COLLEGE - Edward "Bobo" Shirey, 88, formerly of Logan Street, Lewistown, died at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Hearthside Nursing Home, State College.

Born on Feb. 10, 1925, in Tyrone, he was a son of the late Ai B. and Minerva (Ayers) Shirey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

He is survived by: one brother, Kenneth Shirey, of Merritt Island, Fla.; one sister, Jane Fabiankovick, of Federal Way, Wash; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Bobo worked for the state as a letter sorter and elevator operator.

He was a life member of Owls Club. He was also a member of Fame Fire Co., City Hook & Ladder and VFW.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with Pastor John Reed officiating. Interment will take place in Lind Memorial Cemetery.

A viewing will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
