Former Juniata County Commissioner Dale Shelley ‘throws the switch’ at the new Black Log communications tower Monday morning as Robert Scott Narrow watches. The tower construction project has been a cooperative effort between municipal, county, state, utility and private landowners. This addition to the County Public Safety Radio System is meant to improve the ability of first responders to communicate during an emergency. The tower was powered up on Friday. Richard Imes, Gary Burdge, R.S. Darrow Excavating crew and Joe Deihl Excavating were able to provide electricity to the tower despite the steep terrain.
