Steven D. Sechrist

DANVILLE - Steven D. Sechrist, 59, of 71 Fairview Road, McVeytown, died at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Mr. Sechrist was born on Dec. 20, 1953, in Lewistown, the son of the late Thomas R. Sechrist and Patricia (Powell) Sechrist, who resides in Lewistown.

He was united in marriage with Kim M. (Moffett) Sechrist on April 20, 1974, in McVeytown. His wife survives, along with the following children: Christina Ritchey and husband, Brian, of Middlefield, Ohio, Chad Sechrist and wife, Amanda, of McVeytown, Kevin Sechrist and wife, Stefanie, of Hill Valley, and Derik Sechrist and companion, Lauren, of Mount Union.

Also surviving are: grandchildren, Brandon and Sierra Ritchey, and Alivia, Hailey, Matthew, Joshua, Wyatt, Dalton, Aiden, Zeiva and Eliza Sechrist; three stepgrandchildren, Tegan and Jayden Locke and Khaden White; and siblings, Thomas Sechrist and wife, Bobbi, of Hill Valley, Jeff Sechrist and companion, Lori, of Lewistown, Lori Grace and husband, Rod, of Lewistown, and Melissa Sechrist, of Lewistown.

One grandson, Kyle Ritchey, preceded him in death.

Mr. Sechrist was a 1973 graduate of Rothrock High School.

In earlier life, he drove truck for Speciality Yarns. After that, he drove truck for Class 1 Transport Inc. For the past 12 years he worked for PennDOT.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Steelers fan.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his animals and will be remembered for being a devoted family man.

Mr. Sechrist had attended The Way Bible Church, in Atkinson Mills.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at Pine Glen CMA Church, with Pastors Jerry Wise and Bill Wollett officiating. Interment will be in Atkinson Mills Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday, at the church.
